Rachel had finally arrived and unpacked her things. She was to be the new student relations adviser for the school and she was really looking forward to it.
After putting the last of her books on the shelf shehe placed her hands on her hips and sighed a contented sigh.
"Well, here I am", she said to herself in an attempt to make herself feel slightly less nervous.
She surveyed her office once more to double check that everything was in place.
It was a cozy room. The walls were made of stone like most of the school was and red velvet curtains hung randomly on the walls, sealing in the rooms heat. The door was made of heavy wood and, even though it looked as old as the building, never creaked once. To the left and right hand side of the door were 2 large, heavy looking book cases filled with various tomes and articles. In front of the door was a large forest green velvet-effect couch facing Rachel's desk and in front was another couch facing the door.
Rachel sighed once more before continuing her enthusiastic gazing.
Her desk was old looking and seemed to be mahogony. The drawers were lined with an odd coating like you find on flocked wallpaper and they smelled fusty. On the top was an ink bottle with a large gold coloured quill poking out of it, a candleabra and various plain sheets of paper, all with fancy letter heads that had Rachel's name on them. Just behind the desk was another book case, but it was slightly smaller than the other two. This held Rachel's personal book collection, since she was actually a writer herself. To the right of the bookcase was a small set of drawers, in which she kept her secret diary that she started when she arrived. Then, next to that in a small cove was a small lattice effect window that curved up into a point like so many stereotypical castle windows do. And to the right of that was her bed, sectioned off by another large red velvet curtain.
"I think I'm going to like it here..."
